By default, new members to your organization are automatically approved. However, memboGo gives you the option to establish different management rules. The following options are available to you:
  • Approval mode, which allows you to receive membership requests before proceeding with the membership purchase process;
  • Following the purchase of a membership:
    • to accept a new member with no validation required
    • to establish validation rules for new members
    • to require the submission of a document for new members (normally for professional associations)

There are three different validation processes possible for memberships.

Type A - IMMEDIATE MEMBERSHIP WITHOUT VALIDATION

The member is active as soon as the membership payment has been made.

Once the membership payment has been received, an administrator must validate the membership in memboGo.

Type C - MEMBERSHIP WITH SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENT(S) AND VALIDATION


Once the membership payment has been received, the member must provide the documents specified in the membership configuration. Once the documents have been provided, an administrator must validate the membership.
This feature is available in the Orbit plan.

Type D - MEMBERSHIP WITH VALIDATION BEFORE THE PAYMENT STEP 

An administrator must validate the information and membership type submitted by the member. The membership will then have the status “awaiting payment.” The member will receive a notification inviting him or her to make a payment, according to the payment mode defined by the administrator. 

Important: this validation type is different from the Approval function where the administrator can select and associate a membership with a member. Conversely, in Type D, the member can independently select the membership of his or her choice, which the administrator can then review.

CONFIGURING THE VALIDATION PROCESS

You can configure the validation process in two different locations:
  • In the menu Configuration/Memberships/Validation process in the Members application. This configuration applies to all membership types by default;
  • In the Configuration/Memberships menu in the Members application. This configuration only applies to this type of membership and has priority over the global configurations.

Awaiting payment status

For all of the validation types, if the member has chosen a payment method other than by credit card or PayPal, the membership will have the status “Awaiting payment” until the payment is received and then validated by your organization. By default, a member awaiting payment will be inactive and will not be eligible for the benefits reserved for members, such as preferential rates, display in the directory or access to members-only pages. If you would like members awaiting payment to be considered as active members and have the same benefits as members with a validated membership, go to the menu Configuration/Memberships/Validation process and check the box Activate members waiting for payment.
